Wildlife-Habitat relationships
The distribution of animal species among environments and the forces that cause these distributions have been the subjects of many wildlife managers the last decades. I am both experienced and interested in addressing wildlife habitat problems, with applications to forest and natural habitat management.
I focused on understanding the mechanisms by which the underlying logging and grazing practices influence the Short-toed Eagle breeding population in north-eastern Greece. This work helped to develop the appropriate habitat management plan in the region to ensure the continuing of many rare birds as well as reptiles in northern Greece. My most active research at the moment seeks to shed light on fundamental properties of habitat selection by both ecologically and economically taxa, such as the Short-toed Eagle and the Turtledove, respectively. This knowledge has given me the opportunity to study other species (e.g. the Black Stork, the Goshawk, wild rabbit etc).
